Outbound Services
Unaccompanied Minor (UM)
Only when the student is officially booked as a UM with an airline. The Chaperone will help with check-in, stay with student until handover to airline staff, usually one hour before the flight departs, then wait until 30 mins after flight has left UK airspace. Cost is £42ph, min 2 hours. The Airport Guardians team track all flights.
Note that it is not guaranteed that the chaperone will be exclusive to your child as there may be other UM’s in the same terminal at the same time.
Walk to check-in
The chaperone meets the student on arrival and walks them to check-in to make sure they are happy, know what they are doing and where to go. Cost £42ph, charged by the half hour and usually completed within 30 minutes.
Inbound Service
Unaccompanied Minor (UM)
Where the student is officially booked as a UM with an airline. The Chaperone or driver must be reserved and allocated, then their details given to the airline or to the person who made the booking to pass on accordingly.
They are then known as a ‘Named Person’ and the airline will only hand the student over to that named person once ID has been provided. Cost £42ph + any parking if applicable (usually completed within an hour).
General information about UM
When a UM service is booked you will be informed of the chaperone’s details 48 hours prior to the travel date. Please note that in the event the allocated chaperone’s details change before travel, this will ONLY be down to situations beyond our control and we will inform you ASAP.
The chaperone may need to look after more than one unaccompanied minor at a time. It is not guaranteed that the chaperone will be exclusive to your child, it depends on the number of UM children flying from the same terminal in the same time frame.
Any extra administrative calls made by GTMatrix to an airline (i.e. Emirates) will cost £25.
